Hertfordshire Cottage Garden

A cottage garden created from an overgrown, derelict, partially waterlogged site with a belt of leylandii trees blocking views beyond.

From a bare site, a large family garden was created together with a stable complex and clay lined pond surrounded with marginal planting. The location benefited from beautiful distant views and these were maximised by the positioning of trees to encourage the eye to look beyond.

The owners wanted a garden full of colour, reminiscent of Victorian cottage gardens but with a modern interpretation so I created a long, meandering double border to walk through.
