BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair

Platinum award and Best Beautiful Border at BBC Gardeners World Autumn Fair.

Images from a show garden called ‘Free Thinking’, The theme was ‘My garden escape’. I took inspiration from wall art by David Tremlett in Tate Britain.

Modern life can mean that we are restricted by many obligations and a garden can offer a vital way to escape and relax. The design reflects this idea by contrasting the rigidity of the hard landscaping with soft, relaxing movement within the planting. A dynamic space is created with contrasting textures and varying intensity of colour. Framed by an expansive steel arch and anchored by a central, circulating water feature the garden allows for physical and contemplative reflection. The planting includes grasses and perennials along with a signature shrub: a place that offers you something different each time you look.
