Berkshire Garden
A sizeable country garden surrounding a Gothic revival style former rectory re-designed into several areas, whilst crucially linking the main house to an adjacent coach house. Extensive renovations had taken place internally and the clients who entertain regularly wanted a garden with wow factor.
The drive is relocated to give a proper sense of arrival together with a garage to house the owners’ collection of cars. The hard landscaping around the pool is enlarged together with a wisteria-clad pergola under which to sit.
The house has many points of access and the garden established trees. Immersive planting with paths running through joins the main and ancillary buildings which otherwise feel disconnected.
I consider movement through space extensively before starting a design and in this case used Sketch up to experiment with lines before ultimately producing a hand-drawn plan together with a perspective drawing so that the clients can visualise their new garden. Completed whilst at Inchbald.
